About the practice
Southport Fire Risk Assessment is part of AL23 Safety, protecting businesses, landlords and property managers across Southport and Merseyside with technically rigorous, practically delivered fire safety.
Who we are
Southport Fire Risk Assessment is the dedicated Southport operation of AL23 Safety, making professional, high-quality fire safety accessible to businesses and property owners across Southport and Merseyside.
Our team brings together highly qualified fire risk assessors, fire safety engineers, door inspectors and training specialists, all working under a single, professional banner.
Our ethos is simple: technically rigorous, practically delivered and always client-focused. We do not produce reports for the sake of it. Every assessment is thorough, meaningful and designed to help you understand and manage your legal obligations with confidence.

Our promise
We are not a broker or a referral service. When you contact us, you work directly with the qualified Southport team who inspect your building and write your report, from first enquiry to final review.
How we work
Our assessors and engineers hold qualifications recognised by the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and other professional bodies. Commercial assessments are conducted in accordance with PAS 79-1:2020 and residential assessments in accordance with BS 9792:2025, the recognised benchmarks for quality and consistency in fire risk assessment practice.
We invest in continuous professional development to ensure our team stays current with evolving legislation, technical standards and best practice guidance. Our approach is evidence-based and methodical, not formulaic.
Fire safety law is complex and constantly evolving. Our team has in-depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety Act 2021, the Building Safety Act 2022 and all associated guidance documents including Approved Documents B and the BS 8674:2025 competency framework for fire risk assessors.
We translate this legal complexity into plain-language guidance that our clients can act on, helping Responsible Persons understand their obligations clearly and confidently.
We understand that a fire risk assessment is not just a document. It is a process that affects real people, real buildings and real legal obligations. We take the time to understand each client's specific situation and tailor our approach accordingly.
From the first phone call to the final report review, we are a partner in your fire safety compliance, not just a service provider. Our team is available to answer questions, provide clarification and support you in implementing recommendations effectively.
Compliance
All fire risk assessments we produce are conducted in accordance with the relevant standard for the premises type. Commercial and non-domestic assessments follow PAS 79-1:2020, the Publicly Available Specification setting out the recommended methodology for fire risk assessments in non-domestic premises. Residential assessments follow BS 9792:2025, which applies to multi-occupied residential buildings.
Our work is fully aligned with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO), the cornerstone of fire safety legislation in England and Wales. We are well-versed in the updates introduced by the Fire Safety Act 2021, which extended the RRO's scope to include the structure, external walls and flat entrance doors of multi-occupied residential buildings.
We also maintain current knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and its implications for higher-risk buildings, including the expanded duties on accountable persons and the requirement for comprehensive safety case reviews in higher-risk residential buildings.
Beyond legislative compliance, AL23 Safety is a BAFE Registered Organisation, independently third-party certificated by SSAIB to the BAFE SP205 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme, with a Certificate of Compliance issued for every certified assessment.
